It was said earlier in this thread that I could drop a '99 or newer engine in my '96. Would the engine fit? Would that be a good way to go, performence wise, if I were going to get a used engine?</p>
How would I know if a engine was good or not? I heard that I could do a compression test. Can this be done with the engine not in the car?</p>
Are the GT engines single or dual over head cams?</p><edited><editID>Jason in LA</editID><editDate>38027.4712037037</editDate></edited>
single over head, I wish they were dual! its crappy when you ping off the rev limiter at 6k...<IMG src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0"> This is soooo off topic but speaking of rev's my 03 YZ250f (4 valve single cylinder 4 stroke) revvvedddd to the moon its limiter didnt hit untill about 13,500 and made power alllll the way!!! mann that was the best dirtbike.....had to sell it for the stang which is ok!
Yeah I can't remember the price, but I was on Ford Racing's website not long ago and I remember saying to myself, "Dang, PI heads are that cheap?" So definitely check it out; you might be surprised. I don't know about the price of bottom end rebuild, but if you go that route, you can get a pretty good one from DSS.
