Default TC/Lighter removal, disconnect battery?

So I'm tinkering around with the shifter bezel and want to pull the traction control/lighter plugs out so I can replace the bezel. Do I need to disconnect the battery before I go touching the wires or can I just pull both back connectors out without incident?

Btw, it's a 2000 GT 5 speed.

Thanks!

traction control, lighter plug is held in by a connector that will not shock you unless its got wires hanging out of it. You just unhook the connector and it comes off.
