Default PI Intake

Everywhere I go I hear everyone talking about the PI intake. Please tell me exactly what the PI intake is. From what I understand they strating putting it on the 2001 1/2 GT's and up. I believe I already have one stock on my 2002 GT. I know this may sound stupid to many of you, but I am tired of guessing about what it is, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks to all of you for the help!

yes they came stock on 99-04 GT's....it's a little different than the intakes on 96-98 GT's which have Non-PI intakes. It's a better flowing intake. 99+ Gt's also have the PI heads/cams along w/ the intake which is why they are rated 45 more hp than 96-98 GT's

Exactly what demon said. Also, the PI intakes have an aluminum crossover on it. The non-PI ones have an all plastic intake which is prone to cracking. There is a lawsuit that was done to settle this and is a sticky at the top of the 4.6 forum. The aluminum crossover was put there to help prevent the cracking in the intake.

I don't think that is the case necessarily. I have a 2000, which supposedly has PI heads but I have the crappy plastic intake that is covered under the glorious extended warranty. See the sticky on the settlement for full details.

+1, I believe that the 99-00 cars that havn't been fixed under the warrenty still have the crappy plastic crossover.. I think they started that with 01+
