Lowering Question
Sup guys,
I'm lowerin my car tomorrow morning, and I have a question. Everyone recommends the spring compressor, but is it absolutely necessary? Can you use a prybar as a substitute? I don't really feel like driving to discount at 7:30 in the morning... Also, how long does it take approx.? It'll be me and my dad working on it, and wehave somewhat of a clue what we're doing, but mainly following the guide in the "How To's"
Thanks guys

everybody says that you can do it without one...i did but i was taking out Eibach Sportlines (much smaller than factory) and installing H&R SuperSports....some even venture to say that its actually safer without the spring compressor (sometimes they let go)...all in all i KNOW that you CAN do it without a compressor but i dont know how difficult it is...good luck
I did my springs tonight with a buddy. We didn't use a spring compressor at all. Just pre load the suspension with a jack, and let it down slow. We ran into some problems that were out of the ordinary, and also had to leave to get tools, and drank some beers and it took us about 5 hours. If you dont run into problems, it wont take you nearly that long. This is the best how-to out there http://www.stangnet.com/tech/spring2.html
Skip the caliper removal step though to save time. Also, make sure you have a nice hammer to pound the tie rod out. Have atleast two nice floor jacks as well, you'll use them. Other than that, take your time and be careful while your suspension is under load.
