Default Stupid question...

The starter in my 96 GT died and I am going to be replacing it tomorrow. However, I'm an idiot and can't see where the hell it is. Where is the starter located?

bottom of car..between the trans bellhousing and motor....right side or passanger side....3 bolt hold it on..top one is a b-outch....

be careful the top bolt likes to break your prob gonna have to take it in to a shop. If you break that top bolt your f***ed. I tried on mine broke that b***h. then I had to have trans removed and old bolt drilled out cost alot more in the long run. just take it into a shop

yeah ive always loved how ford put sh*t that breaks more often that anything else in the most difficult places.

When I did my clutch swap, I was taking off the starter, and I took the bottom 2 bolts out............................................... .... and it just came loose. NO TOP BOLT! I was so relieved. lol

If you break the top Bolt whos gives a ****.....no-one in thier right mind puts it back in anyway....I never do..and I turn wrenches for a livin....Never had a problem with2 bolts..all my stanghas is 2....

If you get the top bolt out you can always put it in the other side. It's a little easier that way. I use a long extension and a swivel socket and get it. I've never had a problem with mine.

on the 2000 gt its no prob with enough extension you can get all three very easly.
