ok well you see if that ******* that passed you who was going faster then you had a decent radar, his chances are lower of getting a ticket. my point proven.
How is this????? If the po po hit him with the ole instant on, He is TOAST!!!! My point (since you could not read between the lines) is that why speed when you are already hitting 80 mph on the Interstate??? How fast do you want to travel and where in the hell are you going to be in that much of a hurry??? Please tell me you are not going to WORK!!!!! Why speed to go somewhere when you did not want to go there in the first place???? I could see if you had a life threating incident or child birth....I could then see the speeding but I guess you will grow out of it when you get a couple of tickets or a family that depends on you to arrive home SAFELY!!!! Do not get me wrong though, I am 34 and I still do stupid things like the occasional street race (when egged on) but I am more content to cruise at 75mph and listen to SIRIUS while watching the mad dash in the passing lane.

Detectors were good back when the speed limit was awfully slow....but with the standard today, I see no point to have one.

ive had my detector for 3 years and ive gotton hit by laser maybe 3 times! most police departments dont have the money for those detectors, most of the departments still use x, ka, k and you can detect that way early. and im not just talking about driving ont he interstate man. you act like every speeds on every road. if you are the ONLY one of the road and a cop has his radar out on you, you aretn gonna tell him "officer it was an open road, i mean everyone does it on the interstate", my point is, most officers have k, ka, or x band radars you can pick those up and have anough time to slow down before they can read your speed. your ****ed with laser either way. so thats not in the picture. detectors are even better today. i see every point to have one. maybe you should own one. a decent one not a walmart one.

I have one that I took out of my Lightning not too long ago....Bel btw (for sale if anyone is interested ). I paid upwards 300.00 on it about three years ago. NOT WALMART AT ALL!!!!!! Officers use a feature called instant on with the Ka band. They switch it on then off to hit a vehicle they think is speeding. I agree that if you are near the officer with a radar detector, it will alarm you to slow it down. Most of the time I found that the Officer is just sitting there with it on and does not really give a damn who is speeding. You gotta watch the ones that instant on you. The police only use radar about 12 hours anyways ( night time they hardly EVER radar due to Court Complications....)

This has been a good debate bro.....We could go on forever since opinions almost NEVER change. Just be safe out there.

Ive had plenty of radar detectors but the only one that I kept was the valentine 1. I just sent it in to get an upgrade. It has arrows that tells you where the pig is. My V1 outdoes any and all radar detectors by far.

I got both the V1 Valentine and the Passport 9500. Both are top end units. when i am in a area im not familiar with i like the V1 because of the arrows, but regular driving they perform the same. How much $$$ you want to spend dictates which you buy.
