how reliable is a set up like the one you have? 550 is a nice number. fatty tires and correct gearing would make for a better plan. just my opinion.

Not bashing, just curious why you don't know half your brands/parts.

Did you send the car somewhere and have it built? or buy it used or what?

Don't get me wrong, if I had cash, I'd send the car out and say, "Don't send it back till it's safely making 500 hp" lol

Hah, I bought it the right way. I got the car from an elderly gentleman who had the car built for himself, and only got to drive it a tiny bit.

Most of the car was this way when I bought it, I just put a couple loose odd's and ends to make it more reliable, such as the intake manifold, new Coil on Plugs, and a new fuel system.

To the guy who asked how reliable is it? With the way it's built, probably close to the same reliability as a stock engine or so. I am nowhere near the rated maximum output of the engine, so I don't have to worry about that.

Being that the original owner was 65 years old, and couldn't do any of the work himself, I have a feeling he didn't have a clue what parts were on it aside from what they had discussed and what was in the paper work.

my buddy has a 03 cobra with 500+ to the wheels. he can light the tires at 50mph in 4th gear and turn sideways...that car gives me a chubby

If MY car turned sideways at 50mph in4th gear< I think it would give me poopy drawers & heart constrictions[8D]

My car has gotten sideways at 50 on the highway before and its one of the scariest things in the world. I guess its a little different if your trying to do it. But like 2000 said, I'm planning on sticking around a while longer. F that.

personally, i dont think that 553rwhp is too much for the street. i mean, depending on gearing, that if you stay out of the powerband you'll be fine. i do think you need stock gears though to help out.

With the transmission I'm actually gear limited to 130mph, I havn't even had the car above 95mph outside of the strip/track.

It's definately something to get used to, I just don't think it's that brilliant to have so much power than you can use on the street.

After I get some 18x13's and some DR's I think I might change my mind, but we'll see. I just thought it would be a good idea to warn others that 550rwhp is another animal

Sounds like it's time to start doing your suspension to get that power to the ground.
