S197's are very numb feeling compared the New Edges. They are faster although they don't necessarily feel it. A lot of cars around now are pretty numb feeling. You don't necessarily feel like you are driving the car, the car is driving itself almost.
Well said. I had an '05 GT vert auto for a few weeks. Like I've said before it's like a Cadillac-Stang. I loved driving it but didn't find it all that quick compared to my car. My girlfriend often asked "can't you make it go faster" in a joking kind of way when I was pounding on it. She would never ask that in my fox. Frankly she's afraid of it. I know, my car certainly is no monster but it is way more raw and uncivilized and that translates into what seems like a much quicker, twitchier car. I wasn't impressed with the auto GT S197's until I saw video of ones that were tuned with an intake. I have beaten S197's in the past but I've seen some with agressive shifting tunes getting rubber in third with an automatic that would surely **** in my hat. All the gernerations are different animals that go about their business in different ways...

I run 13.8's with 4.10's and an o/r H and catback.

if i had hte same mods with a new GT, i'd expect low low low 13's or 12.99's

Enough said

And make stacks more power, especially in the important mid-high end where our motors need it...

we obviously have different definitions of "stacks of power".

people get so worked up about the s197 when the horsepower difference is only around 50hp.

A 75 HP difference is considerable man especially where the motors make their power. With my mods I jump S197 GT's and hold them off in quick streetraces but highway pulls would surely be a different story. I don't get "worked up" over the S197 GT. I'm not a leghumper of it at all but it's a good motor and our 5.0's need considerable work to hang with one's that have little done. That's all I'm saying. I'm pretty sure when my AFR 165 build is done I'll take down CAI/tuned S197 GT's no problem but that's not stock now is it?
