Sounds like your throw out bearing, had the same thing with my old 97 stang. The only thing to really do is to replace it, or just live with it.

Well its part of the clutch assembly, you will have to pull the trans, take out the clutch and everything to fix it . I just lived with it for a few months b/c I needed a new clutch at the time anyway. I paid 600 for a new clutch aluminum flywheel and install. Its almost not even worth doing unless your going to put in a new clutch.

+1 for the TOB, but your clutch doesnt need to come off to replace it. It basically rides on the output shaft of the transmission, so you'll have to pull of the midpipe, pull the starter and the tranny. If your clutch is weak at all (or stock) this would be a good time to replace it too.

+1, its definately your tob, but if it gets too bad it will make a really loud sound like ten times louder than the screaching. Ive said this before on here and i dont know if it works or not, but i read in my manual that if you put your key in the first position( turning it right) put it in first gear, then slowly depress the clutch until you hear a click, the clutch adjusts itself. I did that and the screaching stopped in mine.
