Default Summit stars any one else running them?

I went with the summit stars. I had a set of their 15x8's and just sold them to go with some 15x10's that should be in today. I plan on running 324/50/15 MT DR's/ I haven't mounted the skinnies yet, because I just ordered the will spacers. I also have cobra front brakes.

The 15x8's are just to small for me. Hell the stock rims are that size.

I like the summits because the look good, and cost less than half the price of the welds. Plus you do not need special shanked lug nug nuts to use them. You do need a tuner lug because of the small lug bore, but I bought all 20 for $15.00 at a local parts store.

Two weld 15x10"=$493.90 and two weld 15x3.5"=$383.90 .Plus 50 for shanked lug nuts=$927.80

Two summit 15x10"=$259.90 and two summit 15x4""=$179.90. Plus 15 for tuner lugs=$454.80

Half the price. The welds are a little nicer but not enough to justify twice the expenditure.

This is a friends sig, he has the summits.

Those rims are nice, dime had em on his 88 GT... Let me know what spacers you need for the front, because I'd like to get these rims as well, but being a Cobra I have some brake clearing issues. What backspacing are you using?

Here's dime's old fox

For the backs it's 6.5" bs for the 10"(8"= 4.5") and the fronts are 1.75". Same as welds.

For the 98 down live axles, I think the rear BS is smaller because the axles were extended .5"s after 99. I would check with othe guy with 96-98 Cobras.

I'm going to a 1" spacers in the front and 3" studs. That's what most Cobra guys go to.

They just showed up!! They are fricken wide lol for a 15" wheel and look sick lol! I saved over $100 per wheel compared to the welds. I know welds or tiny bit lighter(and I mean tiny) but who cares. With the 460 dollars I saved on all four wheels you could damn near but a nitrous kit lol. Then you'd actually have a reason to need them.

Hey they look pretty good. I am planning on getting a set of prostars eventually and I had thought about getting the Summit ones because it was so much cheaper. Can prostars be used safely on the street?

I know I want 15x8's at the back but for the front I may be getting Cobra brakes soon and I know I will have clearence issues. Would I just need to use a spacer to run 15" prostars? wouldn't that put my brakes behind the rims? is it safe?

I was thinking maybe it would be better to just go with 16" prostars or maybe even 17" if they have them

Thanks,
Brandon

That's what ever one else has to do with cobra breaks. The prostars are great, I just can't see paying almost 500 more for prostars. Then wondering if they'll hold up just for a 3-4 lbs savings and the name.

I have always saved money where I can (sometimes buying used, and what some others consider inferior parts), that's how I was able to afford a 600 hp gt. I know I haved spent half amount than others have, and my car performs the same. Imagine if you saved 50% on every mod you do and how far you could go with the extra money.
