Quick couple of questions... with the swap, will the stock transmission crossmember work with the C6? What are you doing for the driveshaft? I have a freshened 460 and a C6 I want to put in my 98 GT.

were going to modify the xmember to make it work... driveshaft has to be shortened, theres a local company that will do it for $75 once the drivetrain is in and i know how much it needs shortened

Ok, cool. I wasn't sure if the output of the tranny was the same spline as the stock transmission. The driveshaft will definately need to be shortened substantially... I knew the 460 + C6 was long, but I had no idea it was this long.

Definately keep this thread updated... I've been looking into putting a 460 in my 98 for some time now, and this thread helped make my decision to pursue it.

Also, why have you decided to convert to manual steering and brakes? I know it will cut some weight, so I figured that was your driving force for going this route. The 460 I picked up has hydrolock and I figured I'd use that to power my steering and brakes.

i converted because power steering on the 460 seemed like it would be a pain in the *** to rig up....also, my car is a hydroboost car, so without power steering i dont have power brakes....i coulda rigged that also, like zw99gt did with his 408w, but it seemed easier to me to just get a manual brake kit and a manual rack and call it a day...plus, any weight savings is a good thing after dropping the boat anchor in the car lol

bump...got started today... rhett, rob, and myself started in on it...didnt get a whole lot done, but i didnt have long to hang out there today anyways...got the hood, fenders, clutch cable, coolant overflow tank, hydroboost unit, and other misc things all removed

pics will come later, my buddy is the camera man, not me

heres one i took though on my phone

found some awesome cracks along the rails in the front of the car...but im not worried...my friend rob is going to be welding it all up and making it good as new...along with filling in all the holes where wires and stuff are supposed to go and smoothing out my engine bay...all my wires will be ran under the fenders...its going to look good

its kinda messy looking because were trying to leave as much connected as we can....were going to be lifting the body and rolling the whole drivetrain right out....its going directly into a v6 stang, not even going to drop the k member off the motor
