I have stock gears with a dyno tune and an auto. From a stand still smashing the gas I break loose, and will start to slide sideways. 1st to 2nd shift is a full on spin, not just a bark. Hell I get a bark out of 1st to 2nd under accel and it shifting at like 3500.
Sounds like you need some 315's. I can't break traction even in first from 1k rpm. Only way I can break traction is to dump the clutch or come at it sideways. And mines stick.

Mine does about the same as everyone else said. They'll break loose for a second or two if I mash the gas from a stop, and because of the j-mod it'll bark nicely into second. Nothing too crazy though; other than a j-mod I'm pretty much stock. 275 tires btw.

I have only barked into second like twice in my bone stock auto gt. But my exhaust will be finished up tomorrow so hopefully I will be able to bark more often.

The '03 GT auto vert I had for a week couldn't muster any wheelspin off the line when doing a dead hit without brake assist. It would chirp 1st-2nd every time when I upshifted it manually but not at all when left in fun ole' "D". Car was bone stock though...

I would love to run a wider tire than I am right now. Problem is...with the way the Borla Stinger cat-back is bent, I had to run a 1" rear spacer just to clear my tires that are on there now, and they arent wide at all (probably most of the reason I spin so much.) I'm running a 255/45/18 and am only clearing my pass. rear tire by about the width of my index finger.

The only mods I have on my 2003 GT Auto are a K&N Filter, 3 inch MAC catbacks and an aggressive 87 octane SCT tune, NON canned. And i'm sorry but....some of you should really try it before you knock it. The notion that I cant get sideways off the line with just a tune on an auto is......pretty LOL. Barking my tires is almost impossible to PREVENT if I shift above 3500. Get real folks.

3.27s are our stock gears, don't go back to that mechanic......either he lacks basic knowledge or hes trying to sell you stuff.

I'm not arguing that, but it's tough to change a $600 cat-back that I love the sound of. It's just not high on my priority list.

Wow seriously yall cant spin your tires? I can't get traction in 1st! I can bark the tires in second because of the shift pressure from my tune.

Pretty sure the general consensus (sp?) is that everyone with a tune doesnt have any problems spinning off the line and the 1st to 2nd shift.
