Rebuilding A 4.6L
So i am buying an engine out of a 01 GT.
The guy said when it was in there it had a knock witch is why he replaced it. Now as far as i know that is just a rod problem right? Which i am replacing all the internals so that should be a simple fix?
Plus im picking it up for like 250 so it seams like a deal.
What do you think?

most ive seen in the 4.6 have been the rod bearings failing due to not changing the oil, oil pump failure, and keeping oil in the motor itself.
So just remove the oil pan, inspect them. If the crank is not scorned, they would be all you should have to repalce, you can check the main bearings, more than likely, they are ok

my dad went to the junkyard and they were practically giving away parts.
he said he could have gotten an 02 gt engine and trans for 5 bucks if he pulled it himself but he didnt think about it. grrr i could have had an 02 engine with most likely less miles than mine and i could have built it up before i dropped it in.
goodluck with your build
