Default KB non intercooled + Cams.

Was just wodering about running the KB 2.1 NON I/C with some stage 1 blower cams on a good ol" 2v. I know everyone will say just get the I/C but thats not wanted or lets pretend it does not exist. How safe would that be with a good dyno tune on stock internals ?? Throw me some input , 360hp being the goal also.

I think Roush2002 was somewhere around that number with his non i/c setup at like 6-7 PSI.. I think anyways...
But yea.... just get the i/c kit. your going to want more eventually. might as well do it all at once ya know.

I saw one dyno like 330 rwhp once...without cams. With blower cams, i think 360 ish is very doable.

Lol I relayed no I/C , Honestly that is all the power I would want and need for a while , If I have the need for more hp I can barrow my gramps Chevelle which slams my nuts at WOT. Im not into drag racing/roll racing/straight line racing anymore so mid 300 hp range would be plenty for my to hit the track at waterford hills. mrtstang ' do you think that it would be safe to run that blower with blower cams and a good tune ?

The price is one convenience and I do not want to hit 400 hp and start worrying about Tranny and internal upgrades , Plus where I drive there is hardly anywhere I could let 400 horses loose. so a mild blower with some nice cams seem to be the path I want to go.

Youre in a tough situation my friend. I mean I wouldnt wanna do a supercharger without an intercooler, unless you run some meth to cool things down. I do not like the idea that the supercharger intake temps are already kinda high even with the intercooler...let alone think of what they are without the intercooler. So if you would go about it this way, id get a meth kit and run it just for cooling sake, and it wouldnt hurt to tune it a little bit more anyways. But good luck if this is what you decide to go with. Keep us posted.

Good point teej, Meth would be good. Im gonna sit down and plan everything to the T so when I decide which blower I go with I will update. I want throw some suspension stuff to help with the cornering and put the power on the ground the right way. Thanks for the input.

Yea, no problem. Id just get nervous about the intake temps and how heat soaked your blower is gonna get from just normal driving. Just doesnt seem like a good idea to me. Also, it wouldnt hurt to be able to just run a little bit more power but you can still be conservative. Id just really worry about the heat created it being a KB. With the criteria given, id do the KB non-i/c kit, blower cams, and meth injection. And maybe a big tube kit if you could see doing that for the price.

trust me man, put the i/c on from the start. The amount of power is not the only reason i say that. You car will run fine when temps are cool but when the air warms your car will turn into a slug. The s/c adds heat to the air as it is so if you plan on running it I would really consider the i/c NOW. You will be thankful later. Good luck!!!!
