Default new stang should i........?

just bought my first stang 1998 gt and was wondering if i should just automatically change all of the major fluids tranny, oil, coolant. i am not sure how many miles each of these fluids in my particular car has on them. car runs good but i am not willing to let anything happen that could cause a major problem.

if i do cange the oil what do you guys suggest i use? synthetic? or regular oil? brands? places to get it done?

also would a coolant flush be a good investment? and will this really do anything?

what range of pump gas should i be filling up with? 87, 93 etc. ?

Its not a bad idea. Use regular dyno oil for everything. As long as you change your engine oil every 3000 miles it will run just as good as synthetic and cost a whole lot less.

First thing I do when buying a car is change fluids and brakes. I use the castrol high mileage 10w30 since Im at 130k. I fill up with 87 with octane booster occasionally. I never flushed the coolant, just drained and replaced, hasent failed me yet.

I'd change ALL the fluids if it were me.

I run Mobil 1 in my car for oil though and a K&N oil filter too.

A coolant flush wouldn't be a bad investment if your fluid is looking kinda nasty. Just look at it when the motor is cold and tell.

As for gas, I 93 octane but the car will run on 89. If you can afford it, use the 93 for the anti-knock level.

There's no reason to run 93 in a car that's not tuned for it. MB84, You run 93 because of the increased compression.

No, 93 octane has a higher heating value than 87 octane, meaning it has more stored chemical energy than 87. You use 93 octane to keep detonation at bay and it also burn slower due to its greater density so you can advance timing more.

I only run 93 cause im tuned for it. Theres no gain if your mildy modded and not tuned for it then you are just not getting the benefits of 93. Just make sure you are putting good gas from a reputtable station is more important than the octane level if your are near stock. Bad gas just sucks.
