loss of power and ticking when reved high what is it?

Hmm, I don't think it's a valve spring or a lash adjuster. The adjuster wouldn't cause power loss, but it would knock. These springs don't usually just weaken, they just flat out break. I would almost say that it's a coil that is cracked and arcing against the cylinder wall. That would cause a ticking noise and cause a loss of power.

I had a problem kinda like the thread starter and I replace the boot on my cop's (had a few cracked ones) and while I was replacing them I found a cop that was moving alittle to easy side to side on the mounting screw which was causing some of the issue.
I have to agree its cop related and arking from dried cracked boots.
possibility
Hesitation - Because its arking
Ticking noise - The ark itself

if it is a cop would that only happen at higher revs and then last for a few minutes then go back to normal? i will check everthing. would it be the cop itself or the boot? how do you test the cop?
ok i just came in from checking in the dark i moved every cop in out up down side to side and i didnt see or hear anything. they all looked good to me. i just changed plugs so maybe that was it?
Thanks guys.

Ya I would think it would have to be a spring, a lifter (lash adjuster), or the tiniest possibility a flattened lobe on your cam, which I would think all of these would not be intermittent.
Are the 4.6 lash adjusters hydraulic? I'm not very experienced with the mod engines
