as for the clutch being the right one, im not really 100% positive.

i would highly suggest learning a few things about your car and how they work. you will have a much easier time dealing with mechanics. you will describe problems better and interpret what the mechanic is saying easier.
Fr the suggestion, I'm here on the forms to learn. The problem is just so akward and it's the first I've heard of something like this. He's a transmission mechanic; How is he not gonna have a good idea as to what may be wrong? I post on here so you guys, with much more knowledge than me, give me some expirienced advice. that's all. I did a good amount of research before purchasing the motor and everything was fine until now.
Also, I couldn't explain to the trans mechanic what I wanted to say because he was in a rush to do something. What do you want me to explain? I'll try better if it isn't clear

Just get him a new clutch cable and new quadrant and have him install them then see if that fixes the problem. If it doesnt, well those things probably werent a bad idea in the first place to upgrade. So at least you have a piece of mind that it wasnt something small that was wrong in the first place and then youre mechanic went and blew a lot of your money.

This right?
http://www.corral.net/tech/drivetrain/clutcha.htm

and then buy the quadrant and cable?
The trans mechanic was acting like a real ***** so I took my car back. Screw that guy. I felt like slapping em when he told me he couldn't put everyones car aside for mine, which I understood, but said so in an extremely condescending tone. So I said koo man, let me get my keys and I'm out. stupid *** guy doesn't know how to negotiate. All I was there to is to ask em or suggest about the cable and quadrant. hahaha weird as people

Bman2000 told me this....
"dont f up the motor install? other than that its all the same, only difference between the 98 4.6 and the 04 4.6 as far as bolthing it up anyway is its a PI motor, and has the 8 bolt crank, which i beleive only affects clutch and flywheel choice, so just get those right and your golden."

On this thread: https://mustangforums.com/forum/4-6l...real-quik.html

Did I buy the wrong clutch? I resurfaced my 96gt flywheel and bought this clutch- http://www.americanmuscle.com/ram-hd...45-clutch.html

I plan on adjusting my clutch cable tomorrow morning. Or today. Up late as hell, damn

Just finished talking to Rodney, the transmission & clucth specialist. He told me right off the bat, that it's the pressure plate. So american muscle sent me a defective clutch kit.
It wasn't the cable. He said the clutch pedal was wayy to stiff and because the car- when I turned it on in 1st gear, still moved foward with the clutch in or out, the pressure plate was the issue. He explained to me what the pressure plate does. It wasn't being pressed in so it grabs the disc. Something like that.
Now, I plan to call American Muscle for a refund because this is bullsh1t.

I'm glad you figured it out, i would have guessed the cable adjuster as well, when i bought mine the plastic teeth were striped out and it would automatically adjust out completely. I ended up buying the steeda after market one and i love it, easy to adjust and whatnot. Hope everything else turns out ok for you, good luck!
