Mass Airflow Sensor & Unlocked/Locked Tuner (Pics)
Would my car benefit from upgrading to the Ford Lighting 90mm mass air flow sensor. Found a really good deal on one, and I could pick it up for about $65. My mods are in my sig. I'm about to order a SCT SF3/X3 tuner from American Muscle as well so would having an upgraded maf give me a few extra hp without have to upgrade anything else.
Another question to is what is the difference between a "locked" & "unlocked" tuner. I keep hearing this in all the forums I've searched through and I'm not sure what there talking about? Would a tuner purchased from American Muscle be considered unlocked.
Few Random Pics I Had....

The larger MAF will not add any power, even if the tune were altered to accomodate it (as it would have to be). The stock 80mm unit is good to 3000+ lb/h air flow--at 12.5:1 AFR thats 480 HP or so.
Installing a larger MAF will only provide potential HP if the stock unit is undersized, this is not the case with the new-edge GTs. Here's a comparison of some popular MAFs:

Locked/Unlocked:
Most consumer level tuning systems only allow one vehicle at a time to be tuned. This is accomplished by locking (sometimes called "marrying") the tuner to to a particular car, generally by using the VIN number which can be read from the PCM.
To tune another car you need to unlock ("unmarry/divorce") the tuner from car A, by reinstalling the stock tune, and then lock it to the new vehicle. Some tuners like the Predator and Granatelli's Fuego only allow a limited number of vehicles (5 for the Preadator and Fuego) to be brides.
Unlocking and resetting the limit can be performed by the tuner's manufacturer, however the cost and policies for doing so vary from reasonable to "we don't do that".
Delta Force Tuning's Special Forces tuning package is an exception, the basic package allows you to tune 2 vehicles and additional "bullets" can be purchased to tune more than 2.

BTW: Nice clean engine bay!
