Antenna Issues

I don't get the Mach 460/1000, CD changer, sound system bashing--mine works great, good reception, good sound, no skipping unless you are on a very rough surface (as do they all)--and the speed sensitive volume control is great.
My only complaint as such is that the DSP "environment" modes are worthless and should be renamed to "toilet bowl", "55 gallon drum", and "Luray Cavern"...

What i dont understand is why people are willing to pay $75 for a mach 6 disc changer... Just get an aftermarket one.

i have a 14" inch shorty antenna and im like an hr from nyc and i have good reception. it must be a location thing for some of you.

My mach 460 stereo never skips at all period. Not even on rough roads or if i hit a bump to hard or hit a speed bump harder than i was thinking i would. But seriously, the mach systems are awesome for stock systems. And just make sure that your aftermarket headunit has at least 460 watts of power in it or else your stereo will sound like ***. My car when i bought it had a jensen aftermarket headunit in it and it was like 130 watt and the stereo was the worst sound ive ever heard. So youre going to have to get a pretty good headunit to compare to the mach 460. Try something before you buy the aftermarket headunit...try taking off the antenna and cleaning the hole and the bottom of the antenna and reinstalling it and see if that helps at all.

The only problem i had with mine while it was installed for maybe 1 day max, was the volume would jump up to full blast sometimes if i quickly wanted to turn the volume up just a little bit. My buddy's did the same thing.

My reception is relatively great. It is about 75 miles until I start to lose signal, and I can usually keep a decent reception to about 100 miles on most of the stations I listen to regularly. I don't have any problems with my cd player either. I have the mach 460 with 6 cd changer.
The only problems I have are 1)the text display when it tries to show the station and song being played... it's like it is stuck and doesn't want to scroll but jumps skipping 'pages' and 2)the amp has shorted out a time or two when the top has leaked into the storage cavity (but not all of the time).
I really don't drive on that many rough roads, but on normal roads I don't remember ever having a skip that couldn't be attributed to the disc itself being scratched etc, and it skips the same places on just about any cd player, let alone a mobile cd player.
Don't get me wrong... I would like to put an aftermarket unit in... but I haven't yet and don't have any motivation to do it other than just a want to do it.
