Spring compressor
#11
i see what your sayin ct but if there is tension on them, when you go to take them off, your are removing one of the points of support or restraint, and that tension then can only go one way and would shoot out. so if you follow the instructions, they remove tension before you get to them so that it does not happen from what i understand.

I would definately use a spring compressor. The one I had for some reason was not very good for the space in the wheel well, so my dad and I chained up the spring to the a-arm and cut it and we were good to go. We knew it wasn't that safe the way we did it but we couldn't get it out with the spring compressor we had.

I guess you guys will understand more when you get to the point of spring removal. My fronts literally almost fall out when i'm ready to remove them. Granted I have IRS on the cobra so it's a little easier but I have done many solid rear ends and if anything the springs just need a little coaxing to get them out.

How is it safer? Because it puts a load on the spring and if something on the compressor went wrong, the spring could possibly slip out and hurt ya??!! lol
But +1, you do not need a compressor. Just some jack stands and a jack.
There is a right up on AM i think. prob one on here somewhere
