I have read that with TFS heads and different cams you would be making 350rwhp at ~7000rpm and with a TFS H/C/I combo you could be anywhere from 375-400rwhp BUT your shift points would be 7000+rpm. And with the stockblock still in there I don't think his engine or tranny will like seeing those high rpms.

With the OP's $5000 budget he won't be able to get the full potential out of the TF heads.

if you are going to do a blower, build you bottom end. if you go the heads and cam route you're still going to be limited power wise because of your internals... not spending another dime on my car untill I forge mine

If your gonna spend money on n/a, go for the heavy hitter stuff= cams, heads, headers. when it comes down to it, for bolt on cars whoever has the lower gear is gonna win 9/10x with drivers who no what the heck they are doing.
+1 op dont waste your time with a tb/pl. Its really not worth it. go with heads/cams and gears if your going n/a. Maybe even consider getting the block bored out.

I'd do the later of the two, but thats just me liking to prepare for the power before i actually make it. I mean a centri blower at 8-10lbs of boost is safe on the stock block, but not with heads/cams/intake. People on here are pushing it with blower cams and a supercharger, let alone heads and an aftermarket intake manifold. I think you should think about what you wanna do first and go from there. I'd do the rotating assembly and h/c/i combo first that way you just save for supporting mods and then decide on what blower or turbo you want to buy. Just make sure youre compression is about 9.2:1 for centri blowers or turbos(turbos you might wanna be a little lower) and somewhere in the 8.5:1 compression ratio for a twin screw like a kenne bell, or somewhere in the 8's for compression.
Well if OP opts for blower cams and heads we could run big pulley to keep boost level low i.e. 6 psi he would be at limits of stock block. Blower cams actually reduce psi level which is a good thing for stock internals. I would opt to go with blower cams and keep stock heads just port them and upgrade springs and retainers and you will be good to go.

OP, check out Modular Mustang Racing(MMR). They have rotating assemblies for sale and you can get the TFS heads straight from them and they can also port them. They stated in an email once that their ported trickflow heads went up like 10-15cfm per stage from fast-as-cast and they start out at like 243cfm. They claim a gain of 45-50hp increase over the fast-as-cast units. So youre looking at anywhere from 270-280cfm on the intake side. So you could buy all your parts from one place. I think they have the trickflow intake manifold too.

After countless hours of reading articles after articles and discussions on this site, I think I'll end up going with a KB twin screw set up. I'll call it safe and upgrade the internals to forged components, as well as TF heads and blower cams. I think it will really hold its own at the track and while driving to work with just those upgrades. Thanks everyone.

So youre doing it all at once??? Make sure you dont cop out for the 2.1 because you will find out quick that your blower will be your limiting factor for power. Go with either the 2.6L kit or try to find out if modular powerhouse still makes their 2.8L kit for the 2v and go from there. Which one are you going to do first???

good choice with the KB. i love my vortech, but if i could do it all over again i'd go with a KB (or other roots or tvs type blower). the centrifugal is great in the upper rpms, but i do most of my driving below 4000 rpm and the boost doesn't really kick in big time until i get above 4k.

Well I'm going to upgrade the internals, cams, headers, and a hood (for clearance) and then slap on the KB with the intake system they have for it. I was planning on the 2.1, I like the amount of power it will give me. I'm not looking to have a 700hp monster at the moment. It still is somewhat a daily driver. I have an suv I drive more. After my next deployment though, I'm looking into an 03/04 Cobra. Thats the one I would spend the real money on. I'm just looking for a fix for for the next few years. On the KB website they keep saying use their chip and set up, would it really be too much trouble to go with another tuner?
