Very true, somthing that people seem to over look. Its called ductile strength. It refers to the flexibility and impact resistance of a certain kind of metal. And something to think about, welds can change the characteristics of the metal in the heat affected zone. Which is one of the reasons a lot of stuff fails near or on a weld.....man ive been welding to long...

some of that may simply be wrong choice of filler material, wrong gas choice, or bad heat control, or maybe not quality metal to begin with. All of that along with engineering of stress points can cause premature failure.

im not saying one way or the other really, since i dont have one, and havnt seen anyone elses. All i can go off of is what ive been told and what ive heard. And most of that points me in the direction of many k memebers being a little too light duty to deal with daily driving. In general, they probebly work fine. I mean i cant think of too many times where i have really hit big bumps. But if i ever did, thats one of the reasons im not likly to ever run a CCW wheel, or any of those 2 or 3 peice wheels. They are not designed to handle potholes or large impacts. They are designed to save weight and offer performance. Most race stuff isnt really designed with street driving in mind. i used to want a set of bimmer style rims, they are nice and light weight....went of one of thier forums, and all the guys were talking about where cracks in the rim, some big and some small...lol that coupled with the price of them kinda made me go....nope. Lol like i said though im not saying dont go one way or another. Everyone has a preference. And DD is different for everyone. Some drive more some drive less. And if you save enough money, even if you break still might be worth it to replace it later than buy a more expensive one now.

another point of view with the MM piece. its made for an entirely different type of racing autocross. its reinforced in other places than my team z isnt it. is the MM piece stronger? probably is it heavier? im sure it is. is going to save weight compared to the stock stuff? im sure it would.

does anyone have a MM kmember? i have some pics of my 2 team z's if anyone wanted to compare the 2 to see the differences

dont have it...want it. and yes it weights more, might acctually be one of the heaviest of after market. But still shaves around 35 pounds. But like i said they were the ones i talked to and the guy told me its heavy specifically to handle the abuse.

Thats the k-member for the hellion turbo kit, so it is just the same as the other k-member kits but it doesnt have the 2 pt k member brace.

Thats the normal MM K-member for 96-04 with the 4.6
