exhuast issues
hey guys just kinda venting and letting you guys know what's going on.
so I got the car with full exhaust. I think some mexican put this thing together in his backyard.. Lol.
the mid pipe and mufflers have always hung really low and scrape on EVERYTHING. I jacked the car up the other day to look at the problem.
as I get under there I discover 2 broken exhaust hangers.
my guess is they broke because the mufflers were crooked, pipes were too long and where the pipe went over the axel they were crooked, with was putting tons of stress on the 2 hangers.
so I loosened everything up from the midpipe back (nothing was welded thank god) and jack up the whole system with a floor jack. (entire system was hanging down 6 inches and barley an inch of clearence from the asphault)
when I had it all jacked up and the clamps were loser, I re adjusted everything and tighted it back up, used some stainless steel galvonized wire (thick and really strong) to make a make shift exhaust hanger
now I have tons of clearence and dosnt drag going down the road if there's a hump In the center of the lane like it used too...
might still get it to an exhaust shope and have all new hangers welded on because the 2 old ones snapped off from the stress.
what do you guys think? Should I be good with the stainless wire? The only concer I have is that exhaust systems have rubber hangers for a reason..
thoughts?
also, today I got a service engine light.. Of course my friend is borrowing my code reader :/ maybe I bumped an o2 sensor or something????
