IMO trucks make good first vehicles.

^ true, I had a 350 S-10 as my first and that was **** until I got into mustangs. I had that thing painted flat black with gold dayton rims, the high school girlies loved it. I sold it and bought a fox and it was blue oval ever since. Still if you have your heart set on a new edge even tho I say do a fox lol then go for it. Your mod list is smart and budget friendly as well, keep in mind that no matter how fast your ride is there will be another and many more faster. Remember that and you will enter the car performance scene with alot more discipline and respect (ever wonder why no one likes civic and Redline drivers ? lol).

Those mods came out at about $400(My calculations). Do you know how much horsepower that would give to a say 2000-2004 GT?

It could go any where from 224 to 235, depending on weather and temperature plus what dynometer you will have it dyno'd on. Gears add no horse power at all they go threw the gear ratio quicker which is a good thing. Lets say you have 250 horse power with a quicker gear ratio and some dude has a 280 horse power car with a slower gear ratio. You will end up being quicker up front and off the line then he will be consider car weight is close. Someone can put it in better technical terms then me (plus Im drunk as a bum pirate, Cliffy can chime in and school you).

Also installation on gears can be a PITA if you do not know how to install them or know a good shop cheap shop to do it. It cost me $400ish if I can remember for the gear install, but my buddy was charged $640 to the tee.

Sure a tune will help, but not nothing big like 25 horse power. Lol thats why these 2v engines get a bad rep, with out forced induction or nitrous they are slow. Thats why I recommend a fox body, a head, cammed and intake 5.0 can hit 300 horse power and keep up with lightly modded LS engines (camaro's and Trans Ams). If you want fast out of the GT your looking at do gears and save up for a 1500 dollar supercharger set up, look at the boost, pipes and juice section of the forum or nitrous ! filling a bottle (30 bucks a fill) is not as bad as you think it is, have you ever hit the wide open throttle on a N20 car ?? its boner inducing.

Hahah, I bet. I was looking at the 5.0's but it looks like they will run into problems and being that there old cars will be even older in a couple years, which will make it harder to find a good used one. I saw one on craigslist the other day it was a 1992 Mustang GT I think, procharged with a bunch of mods(502wrhp) for about 9K.

Too much , the best mustang will be a used one with virtually no mods. That means it has been unmolested, no matter what anyone tells you if the previous owner modded it they sure as hell beat the mother out her.
