need some advice/help on mustang engine parts
Hey guys, I know some people here might think I am crazy or stupid for what I am about to say or do to my car, but I guess everybody has their own style of mods here. First off I am no mechanic what-so-ever and know very little about cars itself, however I have my roomate who is an amazing mechanic doing work on my car.
I am planning on getting an intake manifold, plenum, throttle body setup along with headers. I do not drag my car at all, nor do I really want to, sure, I would love to get some extra hp, but I'm not going to go all out with the car.
My question is, as far as the intake manifold, I want to get either a chrome or aluminum one that is a direct replica of the stock plastic one. Where can I find one that doesnt require me to upgrade my camshafts and will fit a 70mm tb?
Thats my second question. Will a 70mm tb fit a stock intake manifold? What the hell is a 2v? My car is a 2004 Gt, so I am guessing its a 2v and not a 3v or a 4v.
Any suggestion on where I can find these items, and am I doing the right mods, by adding aftermarket performance parts to a stock engine? Ugh, I need some mechanical experience. Thanks

I would suggest using Americanmuscle.com. they have a great selection and will tell you if something will affect the fit of another part. When i was not sure about my throttle body selection with my BBK intake i called them up and they informed me on the issue. My suggestion if your car is a manual get a short shift kit. If not and its an automatic i would get exhaust.

OP a 2V stands for how many Valves in the head each cylinder has. A 2V has 1 intake and 1 exhaust valve 16 valves in total. and 1 cam over each bank (side of engine) 2 Total
A 3V has 2 intake and 1 exhaust 24 valves in total. and 1 cam over each bank (side of engine) 2Total
A 4V has 2 intake and 2 Exhaust 32 valves in total. and 2 cams over each bank. 4 total

Don't bother with headers if you aren't as concerned about power. They are expensive for the gain. If it's about the sound go to you tube and see what some free flow mufflers will do for you.
You can get an aluminum intake that fits a 70 mm tb. Is it just about looks because some people on this board have lost performance by doing that. I'm not sure if there are chrome intakes for your car. No requirement to change cams for an intake, but the combination with the right tune can give you extra power and a cool loping sound.
