...and the Mach hood. The scoop won't fit under a stock GT hood as far as I know. that's why the kit comes with a section that raises the GT hood.

Seriously, never thought about having it powder coated. That would be a good route to take.
It's super easy dude, just clean it up and dust coat it a few times with flat black!

Hell, I'd do it for you for free if you paid for paint and shipping, but at the end you'd probably get ripped on shipping.

DON'T DO IT!!! I had this same idea a couple of years ago and long story short, rain got into the engine compartment and ruined my COPs. I had to replace those along with the spark plugs. Freakin sucked. Either pay the money for a mach 1 kit or take out the honeycomb for a plain plastic piece since you don't like it.

Absolutely do not cut a hole in your hood, very bad idea.

take measurements, go to home depot and get like a 1/8" thick plexiglass...cut it out, paint it and mount it in front of the honeycomb. done.

+1 to that... Spray paint holds up really well if you prep it right.. It will be a nice project! Stop being lazy Kast!

So what did you do, get a new hood or patch it up somehow?

Where is that on year one? I can't find it, that sounds like a prety cool setup.

When i bought my car 4 years ago it already had this done to the hood and hood scoop. I haven't had any real issues with it aside from the engine bay getting really dirty really fast. Also after a certain velocity it doesn't matter because the air will travel right over the opening of the hood scoop.

I did mine back in 05 exactly like drag5.0mustang did. Never had any rain get in other then a few drops even in a heavy storm. It also never ripped off even at 170mph. What it did do was cool the intake extremely well which is a huge plus if you have an aluminum intake like I did. It also cooled my fuel rails. I had blocked the hole in the hood once and my fuel pressure dropped due to the heat. I pulled over and ripped the fire blanket off and problem was fixed.

I cant find it anymore either. I saw it on their website a while back and considered doing it but it was $700.
