Default Starting The Auto Swap!!!

I finally decided 100% to do the auto swap on my 02 turbo GT. Here is the parts list i picked up:
-built th-400 w/Griner Billet reverse manual valve body w/transbrake
-JW Ultra bell
-JW "the wheel"
-mach 1 auto brake pedal
-B&M pro ratchet shifter
-B&M hi-tek tranny cooler
-energy suspension th-400 tranny mount
-RCR flex dipstick
-CSR tranny overflow can
-Ultimate convertor
-Autometer phantom tranny guage
-other misc. stuff
-chromoly driveshaft

I went into this project with wanting the car to still look like a 5speed so i was determined to get the shifter to fit in the stock location. The pro ratchet has the shortest throw i could find so i wouldnt hit the dash when going to park, but it is also one of the overall longest shifters. Im about 80% modifying the opening the get the shifter to sit just right and have all the plastic fit back in normal. I had to cut the shifter up quite a bit in certain areas that didnt really matter. Here are a couple pics. I hope to have the car running by this weekend after it being down since october!!!

i was gonna do it the way you did, but it just felt to far for me to reach so i fabbed it up so the shifter moved back more towards me so i dont have to lean forward as much. also the handle in park rubbed the radio delete panel....

im still not fully done i was gonna put a black rubber piece of some sort in the front to cover up all the crap.....

Very nice... why did you decide to go to auto? Future plans? Or did tranny give so just went for it now?

i don't daily drive the car and i rarely get on the interstate so i didnt need overdrive. also, with the turbo kit i have the stock 3.27 gear and some 28" tires so i can go 70mph and still be under 3000rpm. Another factor was how bullet proof a th400 is compared to a 4r70w. The th400 is WAY CHEAPER as well. I tossed the idea around a whole bunch but i finally decided on the th400 and im glad i didnt do the 4r70w

thats why i chose the b&m pro ratchet, it has the shortest throw i could find. the only downside is the overall length of the shifter. Im actually going to make a different panel to mount the shifter from what i pictured. its still all going to be hidden by the 5speed boot, but im going to go about making a panel out of sheet metal to house the shifter under the boot.

my clutch went out in october after i went to the track and went 11.4 on 9.5psi. I kept hearing and seeing videos with auto's in turbo cars and i think its the best for my application. Now i have everything built except the motor too
