Default all water in cooling system, during winter!

Okay so im buying my buddys 96 gt and his dumb a$$ put all water in the cooling system before winter hit and now its 40 degrees for the next couple days. If we start it and let it run will it hurt the heads or freeze plugs?

feel the hoses. Are the frozen solid? Did the coolant bottle crack?

You should be alright after a day of consistant above freezing temps. I would do it, but with care. Keep an eye on the car, temp gauge and listen for any odd noises. I doubt the block is frozen, but try squeezing the hoses. If they're hard than it's frozen inside.

killjoy loves to squeeze hoses

if it was going to freeze, there would be a puddle under the car and no "water" left in the bottle.
