If you get into the car all you have to do is run a wire directly from the battery, under the car. Then disconnect the plug behind the back bumper for the fuel pump and run your new power wire to the harness, then run a new ground to the harness and fire it up. Ask me how I know lol.................

Ha, and exactly what I meant by it takes time. Theres more than 1 way to skin a cat. And on the newer 99+ cars the FPDM must work for it to run properly..

I figured 98 and up would be different, but on 97s all it does is cut power to the fuel pump. Had to wire mine to get home once when I broke the key off in the ignition and lost the other half with the chip..........lol.

Well at least you're mechanically sound enough to have figured that out. I'd have been on the phone with my road side assistance asking for a locksmith or a tow.

if i was going to steal your car i would just get a tow truck with a dealer sticker on the side from a small dealership. it's how they were stealing cars here for awhile.

Ok, but that doesn't discount the anti-theft system as being effective. I just was curious as to how confident I could be that a crook would have a hell of a time hot wiring my car without the computer chip key.

I think what I learned is that the anti-theft system is pretty effective. Sure the car can be towed away and what can you do to prevent that short of mooring it to the ground wherever you park. Like this:

It will take a pro. Guess you have your car parked in some high security area.
