See those look perfect. Now my buddy has a black new edge like yours and recently purchased the dark smoked ones from AM. They are WAY darker than yours. I sent a PM to AM here on the forum, and they told me that they have been getting them from a different supplier for that last year or so...hence the reason why they are a bit darker now.

The lighter smoked ones from Stang Mods look like they might be more like the ones you currently have.

AM sells the stock "smoked" ones, think they came on 02-04 cars. Look under restoration parts.

Well like i said AM told me that they've been coming in a bit darker for the last year or so. That combined with the fact that i've actually seen the newer smoked headlights from them in person. They are simply way too dark for my tastes. I love AM (i've spent far too much money there lol) but wish they would still sell the ones like they used to have.

Nice thing about the ones from Stang Mods is that the lens itself is not smoked (just a black background like the 01-04 OEM ones) and still has the clear corner, which i really like. Also if i want it just a very tiny bit darker, i can do something like a clear coat/black paint mix, and adjust the exact darkness to my personal liking.

Any idea if you have to do the "oven trick" on the ones from stangmods to get them to seal completely like the ones from AM?

I'm not familiar with the oven trick. I was just under the impression that you could seal them, and then let them dry for a day or so.

Well some people like to heat them and try to get the current seal to seal better.... Personally I would just take some clear adhesive and go over the seam. I wouldn't go through the hassle of heating them unless you wanted to take the lens off.

We just got back from cruising the stangs around (our son has an 03 GT too), and he had just put the Dark Smoke headlights from AM on, and they are very, very dark. He also added HID's, but says it's still terrible at night. We drove in front of him, and I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable driving at night with those things. We live in the country too. His bright lights were not even very bright through those smoked lenses.

Wow. I'm definitely ordering mine from stangmods, unless you guys know of a different place.
