In all actuality though, a stock 5.0 with 3.73 optional ratio will run low 12's with just DRs. That is pretty impressive for a car that is very good in all other categories as well. I bet it wouldn't take a whole lot of mods to get it to run 11.7's and still be a very nice DD. A blower on that motor would easily get you down to 11 flat, and still be a very nice DD.
Are you saying that the mods required to make a 2v gt capable of 11.7 1/4 would take it kinda sorta out of the DD category? If so there are quite a few guys over on modded mustang that even decided to go the mmr 4.75 longlock with a blower pushing into the 500rwhp range and daily drive those things quite a bit with a blower and brand new motor(mmr 4.75). And they managed not to spend 30+grand doing so. Not taking away from the known fact that the new 5.0 is a complete beast. But done up the right way the 2v cna be built to handle some serious numbers and run some decent time while maintaining the Daily Drivability. If the went at it N/A with some radical cams and such that may be a different story.

If thats not what you were saying "MY Bad"

No, just saying that in stock trim, the new 5.0 is the smoothest Mustang to date. Even with a couple mild mods to get it solidly into the 11's, it would retain the excellent DD manners that it came with.

Step it up with a blower, and you would have a sick DD.

Agreed that the cost of admission is relatively high, but for anyone looking for a nice new car, this would be my first choice.

+1, completely agree with TRUEBLUE

The car, performance-wise, is on the same level as the M3. Those puppies start at $60k... The interior on the 5.0 is very, very nice for an affordable sports car.

Agreed it is one bad a$$ ride and the performance with the engine size compared to its Americann competitors is just top notch. Ford did nail it with this new stang and the way it responds to the simple mods... top notch!

Its all about cost, If I had 40k Cash in my hand, that could get me a new 5.0 and a few mods, 40K cash and picking up a 79-04 roller and doing a true build, I can build something to outperform the factory 5.0 in any field.

I feel what you are saying on that note. Picking up a roller you could maybe bo it for less than like 12k. Being that alot of ppl use the stang for a toy/enjoyment.

The difference is night and day. But the new edges feel more "old school muscle car" while the new mustang feels like "a v8 powered Infiniti". The new 5.0 is just smooth power with a nice interior, but fast.

i thought the point of a muscle car was to feel the power, not to "enjoy a smooth ride"... when they started putting in hydraulic clutches, i knew the bawlz were getting snipped away little by little... its ashame that the classic appeal to this type of vehicle is dwindling away little by little.. at least they put a beast of a motor in it, otherwise it would be a "muscle car" based on looks alone
