Last minute cold feet with my cam choice, input appreciated!
Ok guys, from the beginning stages of my build, and talking with Jim over at CMS and a few other companies, I had decided that the CMS STAGE 2.5 NA cams were going to be what would fit the bill. However, now its time to out lay the cash, andI havent been able to find a single person who has used them. So I'm stuck between these, and the stage 2 NA cams.
Build is as follows:
Manley 11:1 pistons with valve reliefs (MMRs 900RWHP kit)
Manley H beam rods(MMRs 900RWHP kit)
Cobra forged crank
Heads have been freshened with a valve job, and some gasket matching.
Manley Nextek Springs
Jim recommends the stage 2.5s... but I'm just a bit gun shy because I havent seen anyone use them.
2.5s : .571/.567 Lift 230/237 duration 109 LSA
2's: 560/575 lift 225/235 duration 108LSA.
Do you guys see any problems with running the stage 2.5s? What kind of rev range would this put me in estimated?

I ran the CMS 2.5s, but they were in my Trick Flow heads and stock bottom end. Car made 330rwhp and went 12.41@116. Ive since upgraded to stage 3 cams and am still working on track times. The 2.5s were a great cam in my car, but my setup was a little different then yours...and just as a note I was running the CMS stage 2s in my car with the stock heads and made 292rwhp...both cams performed very well for me...

how were the street manners of the 2.5s? obviously you had an advantage with the trickflows. My heads will be refreshened and gasket matched, and LIGHTLY ported. However, I'm right at 11:1 compression.....

Street manners were fine. I was running a 4.10 gear with them, so low speed driving wasnt an issue with bucking or anything like that. Im running a 4.30 gear now with the stage 3s and drivability is actually better, but I took it to a much better tuner after the rebuild, so a lot of the street manners has to do with who tunes the car as well...
