You can see that the driver side axle is leaking fluid and is not sealed like the passenger side. These guys at the brake shop told me that the thing in the axle tube is bent or and is causing the wheel to have negative camber.
So I can either:
A. Buy a new axle for $600
B. Buy a used axle for less
C. Buy the parts for the DS axle and pay for the manual labor

Contact local yards and see if you can buy a used one, that's what most shops will go with any ways. There are millions of used 8.8 rear ends out there.
Id say the previous owner jumped a curb or something with it.

If you just find a used one out of the junk yard 99-04 GT then it will just bolt right in. You could look and see if you can find just the housing, then all youd have to do is swap the axles and rear carrier into it. Your problem is the axle tube took a hard hit and was pushed up and out of alignment from the pumpkin. You may even be able to find a machine shop that can straighten it out and weld it.
