Default 4.6 performance advice

hows it going, im new to the forum here and looking for advice as of where to start with upgrades on a 2004 mustang gt 4.6. Ive read briefly on some things on here but looking where to start for my type of driving. For the most part its not going to be a daily it will be to drive after work and on the weekends. I am willing to spend the money on upgrades and im mechanically inclined for the most part. Id like to make it fun and fast but still reliable. What mods can i do to make more power on the stock block without having issues?

Rear end gears are the biggest bang for the bucks, your not going to get much more out of the motor without a big investment. a tuner and a tune would be the next thing i would do. Gears and a tuner if you can do the work your self is under a grand

I would do a new rear end gear (I have 4.10s on the 99), a new mid pipe and whatever catback you think sounds good and a tune.

Some other bolt ons like a throttle body/plenum/underdrive pullies/cold air intake/headers are options too but unless you can find them used, you're not going to get a whole lot out of them for your $$$.

Instead, you can save for a supercharger and run low boost, like 6-8 pounds. The S/C will add a lot more stress to everything though including the engine, transmission and rear end (if you've got sticky tires).

Just find a centri blower. You can spend $5K on a kit if you like or piece it together with a combo of new and gently used components for around $3K.
