1996 trunk alarm
I have a 1996 Mustang GT and the alarm goes off 30 seconds after I set it. I think it's related to the trunk somehow. It worked perfectly until I was rear-ended. The repair shop replaced the trunk lid and repainted and stonewalled me when I said the alarm wasn't put back correctly. I'd like to be able to lock the car with the keyfob. I am having to lock the car with the key which doesn't seem to set the alarm. Is there a way to disable the trunk part of the system. I think there is a sensor on the trunk lock cylinder somehow.
OK. Here's an update. There are two cables that come from the trunk lock cylinder. One is the connection to the trunk latch (black), the other (silver) goes to an electrical connection. I simply disconnected that electrical connection and everything works as it should. I have of course lost the alarm if somebody punches out the trunk lock cylinder but that's OK. I think.
