Carrier Bearing??

Carrier Bearing??
Does anybody know what it takes to change out the carrier bearing? Do you have to drain the rear and pull it all apart? I would imagine you would but I can't be sure. I know that this kind of job should be left to a shop, but the shop that put my gears in claims that there is nothing wrong and yet I have a noise coming from the rear-end. So I am thinking that they didn't change out the carrier bearing.
