Cams with stock 3valve heads and KB 2.6L.
What would a set of custom grind blower cams with a KB 2.6L attached do for me? Like how much horse, would driveability suffer, how about rpm range, and what other stuff would I need to do the swap?
To be honest with the cams and the KB I would forge the internals as well and up the boost and there are so many other things that may need to be done to the car for driveability reasons I am not sure it would be worth it. That is a personal decision and the HP will be 450 to 500 RWHP after modding (guessing) and the stock block has proven to handle about 450 RWHP (you will get many other numbers as to what it can hold). So I would not go any higher when you get it dyno tuned after the install of said parts. This is JMO but food for thought.....J
The cam would not make that much of a difference...there isnt a cam on the market that makes a significant difference with just the cam as of yet. If you were to do some head work, with full exhaust and full intake, then you'd notice a difference.
As for power, with the blower, you'd be looking around 450-500 RWHP, as mygt500 said above, stock block can handle ~450RWHP... and that would depend on the tune really...
But forged internals can solve that, and with those, you'll be good til about 1000RWHP...so, rather than dropping 1000 for cams, i'd spend that money on a stroker kit and that way you cna up the boost a bit more, and you'll have plenty of power...

Block itself is good for 1000...
The blocks are damn strong...my buddy just sold his TT from his Cobra, and he was pushing 800WHP...same block as us...the blocks are bulletproof...but we got ****ttttty internals...
Upgrade those internals, most forged internals are good to 900-1000...

The blocks in the S197 have been proven to withstand 800 rwhp so I wouldn't worry much about the block on any car thats street driven. But the internals are crap. Wish we got forged internals like the V-6s.

What year cobra? The 99-01 cobras use teksid blocks and the 03-04 cobras run iron blocks.

Sorry, my bad, yes...i did run an iron block...but i do know that our blocks are bulletproof unless your running MAJOR horsepower...up and above 800...which certainly isnt a worry for 99% of us...
Mines a DD...so i dont want to ever see that much power...besides...whats it good for?
