Default TCI TC

I'm about to go ahead and get a TCI TC with a 3000 stall and had some questions about it.

1. How much of a PiTA is it to swap this? I do have an air compressor and plenty of tools.
2. I saw on TCI's site it requires 7/16" bolt holes. How big are the holes in our stock plates and will they need to be drilled?
3. How is highway driveability after going to this? Most of my driving is I-45 and I-10.
4. Is there anything else I really need to know about swapping this in? <- Yeah, I know that's kind of a general question.
5. I've seen people say they picked up .3 in the 1/4 after this. Is that about right?

By the looks of things, I really need to get some DR soon......

You'll need a modified jack or transmission jack to support the transmission. The tranny has to come out to replace the TC. I can't tell you anything specific about the job because I haven't done it...yet. That may be in my future but it depends how close I can get to the 11s before I'm ready to move on the TC.

I've had several people tell me the 3000 stall keeps drivability almost like stock. The only difference you MAY feel with the higher stall is the feeling of having slightly less power when driving around town but since 3000 isn't very high, you probably won't notice much at all. Add a 4.10 to the mix and you won't notice the drivability change at all.

I-45 and I-10??? I feel bad for you man. I deal with 290 so my sympathies are limited for you haha.

If you don't blow the tires off the car, .3 in the 1/4 is quite doable. You'll most likely need DRs to get a good launch. After the CAI/tune, I couldn't launch over 1200 rpm without blowing the tires off (that was before the 4.10s) so there was no need to be able to launch at 3k or more.

I'm beginning to think I'll pay to have it put in when I swap the gears and DS. Not sure it will be worth the hassle in the driveway. I've pulled and rebuilt a few trannys but it's been a while.

I lived by Jersey Village for a while so I know what you mean about 290. That's also why I'll usually bypass Houston to and from work.

I actually live off the beltway near 290...makes me wish I had a helicopter to get to the galleria area in the morning.

I used to live near West and Jones, so I feel your pain DarkPath. I'm so glad I moved away from Houston.

I'm hoping to get it installed sometime after I get home the 20th and then take it to the strip by me. I might go make a before run just to compare to. I am still curious about what size the holes in the flywheel are but I can use my calipers to find that out when I get home.
