Default tune differences

I was looking at a bama tune. I notice for 91 (highest oct. in cali) that there is a perf/torg/race. What are the differences between the 3. Thanks

Tq tune produces more power in the lower RPM ranges and less in the upper.
Perf. is the oposite.
Race-gives power through out the RPM range.

The differences between custom octane tunes tends to be very subtle. You'll notice a larger difference between the stock 87 and custom 87 tunes than you will between the cuatom 87 and custom 93. I don't have numbers to throw out but the tuners themselves state this as do most of the forum members. If anyone has dynoed these, we'd love to see them.

ok. Thanks. So race tune goes for power thoughtout the rpm band. torque goes for power in the lower band while sacrificing a little at the top, and the opposite for the power?

That is correct. Although the tq and per.tune sacrafices some power in certain RPM ranges, it still produces more power through out the entire RPM range than the stock tune.

I have heard from someone on here that there is something like a 7-14 hp difference between the 87 and 93 tunes, but they did not have a dyno sheet to back it up, so it doesn't really mean much without it.

That's impossible on a stock otherwise car.

According to Doug, there is about a 10-12 hp difference between the 87 and 93 tune.
