Question

I am about to have 4.10 FRPP gears on my 07 GT at Woodlands Performance Center in Texas (if anyone has experience with them). They will do total install incl bearings etc. Total cost 925.00 + Tax (incl parts) and guarantee no whine. After 500miles they require 1 oil change for an additional 50 bucks. It seemed to me as lots of doe, but they inspired confidence with their talk. What do you think?

That's alot for parts & labor. Typical gear install is around $250 and parts (gears, MBK, oil/FM) runs around $275 - total $525. They're quoting you over $400 over the average install price.

sounds REALLY expensive... even geas included. figure 180 for FRPP gears, your talking 795 for labor and shop supplies. I paid 350 for my install. Ask them for a price with you brining your own parts.

Vasman- I'd recommend Strictly Performance off of 45 in the South Houston area. I think they'll do it for 550 or 650.*I think they run specials every month* Some may say that even that price is a little high for everything, but they do the job right. Great shop, employees and owner.

For $900 it sounds like the no whine guarantee is built into the labor cost. For that price they could dig into your gears 3 or 4 times before they lose money.

your brining it to a shop to pay to have them profesionaly installed. They don't come from the factory with whine. Theres no such thing as a no whine garantee, if they do it right there should be none. If there is some and they want you to pay to fix it, thats what small claims courts are for. Let them know up front you dont expect there to be ANY whine, if they say "well sometimes.... " walk out right there and find a shop that says they understand.

They said absolutely no whine. They only install the Ford Racing gears, and they have had great success with them. Tech very experienced. I priced the parts myself and they where about 425. They charge 500 for the install. I asked around and they have very good reputation. I would hate to have to drive to south Houston. I will report on the install later this week.
