Default SS Brake Lines

Ok, so I purchased some Baer rotors and will be ordering some pads this week. My question is whether I should complete the brake upgrade and change out the brake lines to Stainless steel. I've read up and the benefits and it seems that they are marginal. What are your thoughts on this. If you have them, did it improve your braking any? I appreciate all the help with this as it is a mod that i'm not too familiar with. Thanks.

I had stainless lines on my old car, and the difference wasn't "night and day", but still noticeable. It gives the brake pedal a more linear feel, in my opinion. There is no stretching of the line under large amounts of pressure like with a standard rubber line.

I did just pads (Hawk HP+) and rotors (Powerslot), it made a huge difference. I would be interested to see what you think if you do a before and after, driving after the brakes get done and then do the SS lines.

Either way, the brake upgrade will be a worth while investment.

There is an improvement with the SS lines. You might as well install the lines while you have the calipers off so that way you only have to go through the bleeding ordeal once.

And if you're gonna change everything else, you should consider changing the fluid, too. I recommend Motul RBF600 brake fluid.

To the OP: Unless you are going to be specifically tracking your car (IE: Auto-X, not Drag), or doing extreme brake testing, I wouldn't recommend spending $65 for brake fluid, that's just extreme.

Call it playing favorites, but even in my RX7's of old I used nothing but Motorcraft DOT 3. Most people don't realize quite how good this particular brake fluid really is. VERY high quality stuff.

Just an FYI, unless he was planning on changing the fluid, removal of the brake pads and rotors does not involve bleeding the lines, as you never open the lines during this process.

Doesn't our clutch run off of the same reservoir as our brakes? If so, I'm wondering how a different fluid would affect the performance of the clutch.

Thanks for all the input. It seems that this is a worthwhile mod so I will probably just pony up the $200 for a set. I don't plan on tracking the car, but I'm glad the subject of brake fluid was brought up as it was something else that I've been looking into. While I was considering changing the brakes--rotors and pads and now SS lines--myself, I'm no wrencher by any means, and know my limits. Off to the mechanic for a professional install...
