Engine build started
I used new TTY bolts. I considered arp studs but after researching why Ford uses torque to yield fasteners I decided to use them. Also the price was $60 for enough to do both heads. Arp hardware would of cost near $400. I'm not going for real big power and boost, hope I made the right decision.
I think the prothanes should be fine. I don't usually look at people signatures for their mods.
It runs! Idled for 5 minutes, cycled between idle and 2500 for 15 minutes, drove real easy for 10 minutes. Next up is an oil change, break in, and dyno tune.
Words can't describe how I felt when it started. I never noticed how loud the injectors are till now. Everything sounds good, it drove good.
My total cost was $3200. That's including a new block. If those Saleen/CP and Manley rod combos weren't around for $700 it would of been about $600 more.
Thanks for the support. Thanks to one-eyed wille for posting his whole build thread last spring. It really laid out the steps involved and took alot of the mystery out of assembling a motor.
I'll be back with dyno numbers in a few weeks.
