Default Dash Board Noise, Driver's Windshield Side

I once knew a guy with a noisey car, he would say it goes away, and turn up his radio. That's not me.

I've got an issue with mine right where the dash is cut around the left window pillar. If I stick my finger into the area and press down a little on the dash it goes away. Right now I've got a some rubberish material between the dash and the pillar on the door side.

I'm resonably handy, but only resonably, capable of doing R&R stuff, little nervous about getting under the dash. Anybody been there, done that? Been under the dash in MUCH older cars, are they still resonably simple under there?

Tips appreciated!

Make sure the pillar is pushed all the way in. Hit it with your hand to make sure.

Mine was rattling right where the dash was near the passenger-side pillar cover, because the cover wasn't popped on all the way.
But if the dash itself is rattling, that's not good.

I was having the same problem. Take off the A pillar trim. You will then have access to the front of the dash near the front windshield. I put a small piece of foam in between the dash and the dash support underneath.

It will take about 15 minutes to do.

Thanks for your replies.

I tried the slapping of the plastic cover to better seat it. Too early to tell, haven't been able to drive it too far since then.

How do you remove the cover for the A pillar? I was looking at, pretty damn cold out there so not really close, but I didn't see a fastening system up front. If it is something you can easily explain to a "reasonably" capable guy I'd appreciate it. Your "15 minutes" makes me suspect it is snap on stuff, as does the "hit with your hand" response. But I don't want to go pulling and tugging till I have a better idea.

I replaced the lower grill and found that to be snap on so I'm guessing there is more "snap on" parts to be found on the car.

TIA

I am currently having the exact same problem, was thinking about taking my car into the dealership as it's still under warranty, but if I could fix it myself that'd be great, not a huge fan of the dealership around here.

Mine does the same thing, and considering my 06 just broke 17,000 miles, I'm not too happy about my rattles.

Also, the little rectangular pieces behind the door handles rattle like nuts, something in the back seat, and something in the trunk (a push pin or 2 fell out). Soon to fix all these things. The roads here beat everything to hell and back. By 30,000 miles the interior should be falling off

Thanks for the PDF file. I haven't attacked yet, I've got a call into the dealer to see if they'll do it under warranty, but car has 43k on its '05 chassis so maybe not, then, I do have the extended warranty also.

If they don't want to do it, I figure I can handle it, just a little distrusting of plastic parts.

Pull. Start at the top.

That's a known rattly area, especially if you have pillar gauges that add a little more weight to that trim piece. I put some Dynomat behind mine, fixed it. Do the little square plastic piece behind the door handles, which you're at it.
