You don't need to take the car to a mechanic. Most shops have NO idea how an S197 operates let alone how to decipher and resolve issues. If you're throwing a code, try going to your nearest Autozone. They'll pull the code info for free.

I called AmericanMuscle again. If I was the original owner they could have hooked me up, but the guy would not put me through to Doug. He was firm on it. lol I almost begged, but was going anywhere. Anyway, back in brooksspeed.com. I realized yesterday I'd contacted brookspeed.com, which is a British race company ... two s's is the correct one. I'm going to try them. They have an online form to fill out a tune request.

Throwing lean codes is common with a tune that's not quite right for the CAI. And you don't want to run the car for any LONG time or you can damage the engine. All the more reason to get a custom tune. The customer support from Brenspeed and AM are very good. I'll assume Brookspeed is good also since forum members have been happy with them.

If you must run for any length of time before getting the code issue settled, I recommend installing the stock airbox and returning the tune to stock.

I'm filling out the form on http://www.brooksspeed.com/tunerequests/ right now. I don't know the answer to many of the questions:
Throttle Body:
MAF Sensor:
Injectors:
Fuel Pump(s):
Fuel Type:
Ignition Type:
Rear Gear Ratio:
EGR (off/on):
Desired Idle Speed:
Desired Rev Limiter:

All I know is that it's stock except:
20” Boss 226 Grey w/polished lip Wheels
o 20”x 8.5” front w/ Falken Fk452 255/35/20 tires
o 20”x 10” Rear w/ Falken Fk452 275/35/20 tires
Eibach Sportline progressive rate lowering springs (2” Drop)
Blue Oval Industries Strut Tower Brace
Pro-5.0 Billet Short Throw Shifter
Magnaflow 3” Stainless Steel Catback exhaust w/4” Tips
Western Motorsports Cold Air Intake w/80mm MAF
Western Motorsports Ram Air Box
Diablosport Predator Tuner
Blue Oval Industries “Elanor Grille”
Ford Racing GT 500 Chin spoiler
Kenwood Head Unit
Pioneer 400 watt Amplifier
Kenwood 12” Subwoofer in Custom Enclosure

Should I just leave them blank?

No. Some of those are questions they want you to answer about the tune specifics you want.
You do not know enough about this vehicle to tell them this.

Since you do not know these things it might be best just to ditch your Diablo and go to American Muscle or Brenspeed.
Buy a SCT that comes with 3 of THEIR tunes.
They make great tunes that will give you exactly what you want and need.

They will ask you to find a number under your hood and what kind of CAI you have along with the gearing and ask if you have headers or any other major bolt ons done, what size tires you have, and they will set you up.

Simple questions that they can walk you through.
Do this, and be done with all your problems while at the same time putting a big smile on your face from the performance gains you will have.

Whatever you do... do NOT keep your current tune with that CAI on.
You are just begging for engine damage.

Ok, thx again for the advice. So, when you buy from American Muslce, it's all done online/phone correct? They don't have local shops? I'm looking at the options they sell online:
SCT SF3 / X3 Power Flash Mustang Tuner w/ 3 Free Custom Tunes (96-10)
Our price: $379.99

SCT LiveWire Mustang Tuner w/ 3 Free Custom Tunes (96-10)
Our price: $569.99

SCT TSX Touch Screen Xtreme Mustang Tuner w/ 3 Free Custom Tunes (96-10)
Our price: $859.99

SCT Mustang 4-Bank Eliminator Chip w/ 4 Free Custom Tunes (88-04)
Our price: $269.99

I guess the $379.99 is the one you were talking about? What's the 4-Bank chip? I see that's a bit cheaper, but only goes to 2004? When I decide I just call them up?

Also, I posted on diablos forum: http://www.diablosport.com/index.php...=137984#137984

The tech support guy there seems to see nothing wrong with the tune and thinks I might have a leak before the throttle body, MAF, or maybe even an exhaust leak. Do you all know if that's possible? My fear is that if I spend $400 big ones, and still get an eng code then what should I do? Is there something visual I could see if there was a leak?

Thx, thx, thx!!

I dont see why an air leak would cause a lean code.
Here's what you do.

Call American Muscle.. go to the sales dept.
Tell them you want to buy a tuner and tell them what CAI you have along with any other mods you have.

Do it over the phone so you understand completely what they are saying.
Should get you all set up!

Yah, sounds like a plan, thx again for all your very helpful advice. One last question: The guy I bought if from suggested I take it to a local dyno shop (http://www.allspeedperformance.com/media.php) "if you wanted the ultimate tune they would put it on their chassis dyno and remap it, or they may be willing to just change the tune for you." I'm not really sure what this means. How would the "ultimate tune" compare (cost and performance) to the SCT route I'm about to do?
Blessings,
Jared
