Also considering ford racing transmission oil cooler
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=1153

Does anyone have experience with this or any transmission cooler on our cars? I've heard that it isn't needed but have also heard it will help with transmission life.

Just noticed your thread here.

I upgraded the 2 servos and input shaft with TCI parts:
TCI Billet Servo part# 576005
TCI Billet Servo part# 576006
TCI input shaft part# 579600

Total was like $340 shipped or so.

But you should probably do a master overhaul as suggested as well, as your bands are probably worn now as well.

As far as a cooler, still running the stocker here, for now at least.

You say you are using the stock one for now. Does that mean you are considering using an aftermarket trans cooler?

Just to recap, I started having problems with my transmission shifting into third and come to find out it is the third gear servo failure and the guy told me I "lost a band", now i don't know much about transmissions but bottom line was a rebuild was need. So to give everyone an update as to what is happening with this build, the plans have changed in a few things. I checked out the shops in my area and the prices everyone was telling me might have been fair (never had a transmission rebuilt) but the shops that would even consider it quoted above 2500 in just labor. So after some research and a few more phone calls i've decided to alter my plans.

New parts list:
TCI Super streetfighter trans
PI 3200 torque converter
Performance Automatics deep pan with dip stick
TCI performance transcooler
TCI ratchet shifter (looks cool) =)

I've talked to a few guys running this setup and this should set me up well for my future plans of supercharging. I've swapped transmissions before and after pulling my stock transmission doing this shouldn't be to hard. I'll try to keep you guys updated as to how it all works out. Thanks to everyone who has helped me in deciding my route

Ask users who have triple plates and there impression for street driving. Mine is great at the track, but pretty harsh cruising around town when going into lockup

I am on the same upgrade path as you just haven't broke mine yet

I just ordered a TCI Streetfighter 850HP rated, from Brenspeed on Monday. $2,922.00 Shipped Tuesday. Approx $120. shipping to Canada. Am using a B+M cooler mounted below the windshield washer fluid reservoir for now as well as the stock cooler.

I've talked to a few people and they seem to all say about the same thing, they have to give it gas to start rolling now and there is a little more "slip". This car is mainly used to drive to the track and race and drive home, I do drive it around town sometimes just for fun.

To Daryl06 I looked into that transmission, but with my future plans i really wanted a bulletproof transmission that could handle the abuse. How are you liking your transcooler?

Since I'm limping around with a wounded tranny I haven't noticed any difference. Once we install the new tranny there is going to be some air venting from the front bumper installed as well as a temp.gauge. My sights aren't set quite as high as yours...yet. lol So I went with a lower based kit and am getting a converter built up a little stouter than stock but with the same stall speed. I was quoted $3800 for an SR55S from a Ford Dealer up here. Scary!

wow for that price you could get the super streetfighter lol. Sorry to hear about your trans, what was the cause if it's failure?

Failure is probably caused by driver mods.Experimenting with tunes, lock ups, pressures, points, WOT shifting, manual shifts up and down you name it.I wish I was able to drive a manual but due to physical problems I can't. So I believe it probably just got overpowered and abused. lol I'm just gonna unload the core I hope... so I might never find out what all is wrong. And ya I should have ordered the TCI "Super" 1250 hp rated instead of the 850 hp.
