Default Auto Transimission shift problem

While racing I have slowly noticed when shifting into third gear it started getting rougher. Last night while racing it got much worse. When shifting into third the RPMs will drop, pick up and then shift very hard. This happens when I am "speed Shifting" and when it is in drive. It only happens when I am on the throttle hard. When cruising it shifts just fine.

If it helps these are my mods:
K&N intake
3.73 Gears
BBK LT, and Catted X-pipe
Mac Cat back
aluminum drive shaft
Dynotune by Greg @ RET
FRPP suspension

Read up on the third gear servo problems that these trannies can develop. Should be able to find a thread out there about this problem somewhere.

Ok from my research it sounds like it's the third gear servo piston seal( just as suggested above). Now my question is what should I do to fix this? I do have aspirations of supercharging in the near future and would like my transmission to be able to handle it and not have this problem again. Should I have it rebuilt but stronger or would a performance transmission be recommended?

just buy the level ten or TCI master overhaul kit which cost about 500-600 and have a reputable shop install it for u. This will set u up for a supercharger nicely. Will handle around 600 rwhp.

To ChiDiddy could you please post a link to either of those? Also which would be recommended for a street driven/track used car?

Level ten- 500 bucks Same as TCI kit, trust me. TCI is more expensive and its the same product. dont forget to buy a hardened input shaft for ur trans while its open(ask them about it, they will know what your are referring to). that is a must for your trans. The upgrade should help u achieve around 600-700 rwhp, WITH A PROPER TUNE FROM A GOOD 5R55S trans tuner like JDM.

Heres the TCI kit.

Or if u dont want to go through all the labor, buy this guys kit. Alrdy installed and it comes with ALL the goodies u want and top of the line PI triple disk converter for the track..

That will probably be the cheapest route to go, buy his transmission. labor for cracking open the trans is expensive! But you can drop in the trans urself or install would be cheap. AND, no down time since you will have a whole new transmission, not rebuilding ur old one....

Tha PI mutli disk converter runs about 1k and the PA deep pan is 350.

that is a good price, a 3800 stall might be a little too high for my car from what i'm looked at I was thinking closer to 3000, I think i'll go with the level ten kit and the hardened input shaft and get quotes from shops I trust. Thank you very much Chididdy, also thanks to Daryl06 for the hint on looking into the third gear servo.
