I recently got back from a trip with my '08 GT Auto. During the trip coming to a stop I noticed when I had been cruising at highway speed the transmission will pop and make a whining noise. I never noticed this when my car had a stock tune. This only happens when coming to a stop from a high speed. Driving to work of a morning I usually cruise around 55. Today I drove on a highway (atleast 70) a good distance as I sat in traffic it wouldnt do it but when I got up to speed around 55 then slowed down it would pop and whine going into second or maybe first. I am running a SCT strategy tune right now but also can recieve Bama tunes. Is this a normal thing? Normal thing with tuners? or should I call SCT and get a specific tune made for my car?

Bama, VMP, and most intake brand tunes are better than SCT tunes. I had an auto v6 with the same transmission as you and it didn't do this when I had the tune on it. I would return it to stock and see if it does it. If it does you have a trans problem. If it doesn't you have a tune problem. You could try it on for a day off for a say and switch back and forth for a week or two just to rule out a bad tune load.

 

Could just be your low on fluid. These trans while sealed do spit fluid out when it gets hot. You could be several quarts low and not even know. I would check the fluid level.

 

Well it don't do it all the time just mostly from driving a long distance. I would understand if it was all the time. Also it's got the sealed trans in it and theirs supposedly no way of checking fluid.
