haven't been on the forum for a few months but as spring rolls back into maryland I'm shopping around for a big mod for my baby. looking for some feedback and insight from the community. this is going to be a long one...

going to be the eleanor style body kit on my Red 2006 Mustang GT. the Kit is $1200 and I've been given an estimate of $700 for paint and install, price could go up depending on the condition of the kit.

the exhaust is going to be piped out the side - I called a shop that said they could do it but could not give me an estimate because of the custom nature of the work. any insight here? rough prices? exhaust will be piped out infront of the rear tire. also what are my options with mid-pipe and mufflers? I'd like to (one day) put American Thunder classies on the car but can I still use modular systems like that or should I give it to them when I show up and then be stuck with it unless I go back for some more custom work.

next I'll be taking the fod lights off my grill and I'm wondering if I can just set them done into the lower front bumper. also where do i get the smaller lights the kit leaves openings for? not sure If I'm going with HIDs or Halogen lights... may go back to Halogen lights b/c HIDs are a pain or order then install when one goes out!

then I want to set up a super snake stripe and rocker stripe, bout $120 from American Muscle and I may do the install myself since 2 shops have both asked for well over $600 to put them on... that's insane IMO.

last I'd like to remove my light switch and replace it with toggle switches so I have more control over what lights I'm running and I think it just looks cooler... don't judge me! lol. but I'd like a switch for parking lights, fogs, heads and the smaller lights. eventually I'd like a nitrous system so I figured the toggle switches will blend right in and keep me out of trouble when I say "no no officer, those switches control my head lights..." but I'd have to figure out how to maintain my dash light dimmer...

thoughts everyone? I'm hoping to get this done for about $3000 give or take. I've been told I'm in it about 2k right now with the body kit, paint and install.

I cant offer much insight on the price but thought i would throw this out there. Having the exhaust come out on the sides has proven to cause clearance issues. there was a thread not long ago about mods that if u could take back what would they be. This clearance issue came up twice. I for one like the setup alot but I would hate the clearance issues. Anyway its info that you know now. When u get this done I wanna see some pics. Goodluck

 

I remember reading threads where the side exit exhaust was a parking nitemare. It would hit curbs and fubar the car........nasty sh$t. I wouldnt go there. Before you spend a nickel really do some research on what you think you might want to do to the car. Go though all the pictures that are available here and on the net. Thats what help me put together my car. You can really get some great mods and really change the look of your car without spending thousands. As an example my car:

Eleanor grill $200
Legend Splitter $250 (?)
Smoked corners $35 ....looks so much better than those yellow corners.
GT500 spoiler $100 (ebay)
Rear blackout panel $100
blacked out all GT badges and rear faux gas cap $7 can of paint.

Right there for $700 I have totally changed the front and rear ends of the car big time and it didnt cost me a forturne. That leaves lots of money left for gofast mods!
