Question about raising rev limiter
How's it going fellow MF'ers?!!! I have a programmer installed and I am able to raise the stock limiter.
First of all, I am not knowledgeable in this area. Are there any advantages/disadvantages? And if there are any advantages, what is the safest level I could rev to? Somewhere around 6250? Also, has anyone increased the speed limiter?
Thanks to all in advance

I believe the stock rev limiter is set at 6250, a lot of people bump it up to 6500 or 6700, but... high (redline) rpms are not good on the stock internals.
I've had my speed limiter essentially removed, it was set at 145 on my car, the v6's have it set lower to protect against driveshaft failure. Make sure your tires are in good condition, properly inflated, and have the right speed rating if you go to test the top end.

Thanks for your response. I thought the rev limit was set at 6k. I just wanted to see if I could squeeze a little more out of the engine. I don't take it to redline too much anyway. Thanks for the input.

i set mine at 6800 because thats what ford deemed the engine was safe with the hotrod cams until that RPM. I also set it there because they claim power output is increased after cams until 6500 rpm

I would advise against it, engines are balanced but not 100%. Any discrepancy inside the engine rotating assembly will increase unbalance in the engine when rpm raises. Raise it above the limiter and see your engine grenade itself prematurely.
