Voltage regulator
My mustang suddenly started pushing way too much voltage to my battery today after I gave it a good 6000 rpm burn out. as soon as i did this my lights went out, abs and tcs went out too. now it wont regulate properly. Autozone told me its not my regulator. so now im lost as to what to do. can anyone help me out?

Yeah, forget autozone for testing the alternator; they can't properly test the one from these cars.
How do you know you pushed too much voltage and not enough? Sounds like a typical alternator failure. Dont get a replacement from autozone; you'll be replacing it soon.
A place that rebuilds alternators can properly test it for you, but it sounds like yours is on its way out.
The regulator is build into the alternator and it is actually what gives the biggest problem.

The brush pkg is bolted to the regulator and the brushes grind into the armature really deep, and when the rpm's get high, the rotating speed causes the brushes to lose contact, and wear extremely quickly. You mostlikely will need a new alternator. GL.
